Getting close...

Our last OB appointment put me at 2cm dilated. Nothing thrilling there since many women can stay that way for the entire month with no progress. The fun started the day before the appointment when we noticed a general downward shift of the mass that we assume is Temperance. The dr. at this appointment confirmed that she is lower in the birth canal and ready to make her debut! Then the "braxton hicks" contractions started. At first there were only a few but they've steadily increased in number and regularity to a steady barrage at 15 minutes apart with downward pressure. I'd call up the OB and get another evaluation but there's a little hang up. None of my contractions have been increasing in discomfort. I'm fairly certain that there are plenty of women out there that have been through labor without the normal routine (contractions increasing in regularity and discomfort.) I know my track record doesn't lead to much interpretation or predictability either so when do we make the call? I'm fairly certain things are moving along but I KNOW my OB will refuse to admit us if we do not follow what he expects. Who knows what will happen... I'm just ready to get back to normal, no more Tums/heartburn, ice packs, heat pads, inability to sleep, need to pee every 30 minutes, etc... I just want to hold my baby and introduce her to her adoring siblings! (Amie's really getting peeved that she's not here yet. She broke down in tears saying "She's never going to come out and I wont get to rock-a-bye her!") I wish I could say that tonight was the night but I know my kids and they have their own unique way of doing everything!

XOXO, A. Scott
