oral exam

So that dentist appointment I had been dreading (not totally but I did worry about grumpy kids there) went perfectly.

Amie sat very still and cooperated without a single argument. She has good spacing between the chompers, no staining or pitting that would typically indicate decay... Dr. John has given her the thumbs up for good oral health!

We had him quickly check Matty's jaw line because he still has not started teething again. At 14 1/2 months old he still content using only 2 teeth. The concusses seems to be to wait it out a bit longer and bring him to a pediatric dentist around 18 months if nothing has changed by then. At which time they would probably order a set of X-rays and come up with a plan of action. Dr. John said he felt small ridges on his bottom jaw where new teeth would be expected but I'm pretty sure it's the contour of his jaw. Jeremiah and I constantly probe to see if anything new is happening and I'm fairly certain his jaw hasn't changed one bit. So for now, we wait and see. (Matty really did not want to be patient the entire visit. Of all the heathens, he was the worst of the wild things!)

I was last. Which is honestly fine for me. I like to be able to go home and get food right after a cleaning to get the rest of the grit off of my teeth. As for my big girl teeth, they are stained and only have 2 real issues... I have one that's chipped from having braces but healthy with no signs of decay (not really news, it's been like that for a while), one that has a pit and potential for a cavity and the hated/impacted wisdom teeth. Since we are half way through this pregnancy Dr. John has opted to wait on doing X-rays, repairing the cracked tooth and yanking the not so "wise" teeth. It wouldn't hurt Temperance one bit if we went ahead a did it all now but I'm ok with putting of the potentially painful stuff until later! So the end result for me is a follow up visit sometime soon so we can get a preventative filling in that pit before it becomes a cavity.

So there you have it. We are all sitting pretty with our pearly whites still firmly rooted into our heads!

Xoxo, A. Scott
