I hope to never repeat tonight but with two active kids that's unlikely.
Matty was standing outside of the kitchen babbling at me. Amie came running out of the kitchen and tackled him into the side of the sofa where I was sitting. It's bad enough to see your kid fall and get hurt but top that off with feeling the vibration of their skull knocking against the sofa... I don't know any parent that can sit by quietly as their baby wails in pain. He was less than willing when I held the ice pack to his head. As soon as he was calm enough to put down I started calling the numbers I had to contact Jeremiah. About 1 hour later Daddy was on his way home. He swiftly scooped up the monkey and brought him to the ER. We both figured he was fine but I'd prefer to be safe rather than ignore subtle symptoms that signal something far worse.
The physician told Miah that he appears fine, other than the monster bonk on his noggin, but to keep watch for anything unusual. According to the doctor, patients with skull fractures or bleeds do not typically show signs until it worsens. We have been told to watch for issues with balance, unusual sensitivities and lethargy. More than likely he's fine but for the next day or two we are on watch.
He has a decent sized bruise right in the middle of his forehead courtesy of his sister. As bad as it sounds, it makes me giggle... He looks like a Klingon for the time being.
Xoxo, A. Scott
