I'm a big kid now!

With all this nasty snow outside we got lucky. There were only two spots open for the preschool we wanted to enroll Amie in. For the 2011-2012 school year she will be attending the preschool program through the YMCA.

(We are still trying to get her into the state funded program which is also run through the Y. Just in case their lottery system does not pick her as one of the students we have a back up plan! The NY program is a "free" 5 day program but parent volunteers are expected for each class, this is unlike the Y.)

We just paid the 10% down on Amie's preschool experience.

She's very excited to be attending school this fall with other children. Every time we ask her about it, she tells us that she can't wait for swimming. As part of the fees they are taken on various "field trips" to do activities. They will do gymnastics, arts and crafts, swimming, and tons of sports.

I am a little concerned though... In the packet of new student info we received they state that a "healthy snack alternative" is popcorn. Since when is a non nutritive substance (except water) considered healthy? I thought fruits and vegetables were good snacks. I guess if you can make a case for why it isn't bad it automatically becomes good. Kids are going to hate me when I supply snacks like carrots and ranch dip or ham and cheese wraps. The other moms can offer the "low fat" little Debbies or sugar free fruit flavored gummies.

Other than that, the heathens are in bed although not asleep yet. I can hear Matty grumbling at the edge of his crib, probably with droopy eyes and drool on his cheek. When we left Amie was cuddling 5 of her Care Bears, with two glowing beneath her covers. Although she has always liked them, she's formed a new attachment thanks to Netflix and the readily available countless Care Bear movies (of which I am quite tired of but they do afford me a quick siesta while Monkey is napping!)

We didn't get around to our playtime in the snow or get any pictures of our neighborhood but all in all tonight was pleasant. We baked a chicken, broccoli and rice casserole and an apple and blueberry crisp, both recipes need a little tweaking. I'm sure with time they will both become favorites within our home!

I promise, next post will come with pictures (even if it is just me being silly!) Also, Jan. 19th is the next OB appointment, details will follow!

XOXO, A. Scott
