well babies

We had check ups scheduled for both of the kids today. I'm so excited about this new pediatrician, they are so kind and accommodating!

We all got up exceptionally early just to make it there in time. Amie had a weight and height check in the hall (she's outgrown the table scales) and a quick picture eye exam. She seems to favor using terms in spanish when doctors ask. The moon was luna and the star was estrellar. I think the nursed wanted to question what we were teaching her at home but she just smiled and wrote a few notes and brought us back to the room Monkey and daddy were in. Both kids remained naked most of the appointment. The doctor came in quickly and did her exam of my two babes. Developmentally they seemed pleased with where the kids were. They both exceed the expectations for their age range. (After hearing the doctor say that, I'm less uneasy about Matty's speech. According to her, his ability to repeat sounds is right where it should be.)  Both of the kids got 2 immunizations plus the flu shot. Amie did very well with her shots, she told us it hurt and wanted to cry but she held it all back and smilled when the nurse put the bandaids on. Matty screamed his head off as soon as he got the first injection. He didn't stop wailing when I picked him up and continued to wimper after daddy took him. After that we were done and sent to the office to turn in all of the check out papers.

We promised Amie she would get one dollar if she did well during the appointment. She acted very nicely and I only had to ask her once to be calm as she rolled from one side of the exam table to the other. She was to earn one quarter for her exam, one for Matty's, one for her shots and one for Matty's. As we left the doctors office, Daddy and I agreed that she did so well she should earn two dollars to spend at the dollar tree.

Sh rewarded herself with a new purple horse and a glow wand. For his good behavior, Matty got a set of toy cars.

As of right now, this is how the kids stack up:

Matty is 30 inches tall and weighs 19 pounds and 6 ounces.
He falls into the 50th percentile for height and the 10th percentile for weight.

Amie is 37 1/2 inches tall and 27 pounds 4 ounces.
She falls into the 90th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight.

Monkey is still hangin on with his normal height growth but is now our skinny mini, Amie has just exploded in height (I've even noticed a few of her jeans are becoming short on her.) I think we are all satisfied that she has put on a little more weight!

After all that excitement we still had to file taxes... Oh the joys of adulthood! (If only you could read the sarcasm here...) I signed my name on all the pages and quickly took the kids to the dollar tree to buy their doctors office rewards while daddy did the boring part of finishing the paperwork.

All in all, it was a fun day. Even the doctors office was enjoyable!
