We are watching the ball drop in New York, NY. We should be there, snuggled up warm on our sofa in Saratoga Springs, NY, but instead we are across the country in OR. 15 seconds to go and no one really cares. Kids are asleep and we've all done our celebrating for the evening.

Happy New Year!

We've been listening to fireworks crackle in the distance for the past two hours. People everywhere are throwing huge parties with more alcohol than anyone needs in a lifetime for one night. I really hope those that are drinking are not the ones lighting the fireworks. Jeremiah set off a few small ones for us around 8:00pm. Just so the kids would get to see them. The excitement began to wear off as soon as they realized how cold it was outside. (It wasn't bad but why hang out where it's 30 degree's when you can be warm inside!)

We don't need that type of party. We've got better things to celebrate today. One year ago we welcomed our monkey into our family. We spent that first night seperated to three different homes. Matthew and I in the hospital, Jeremiah in our apartment and Amie with my parents. It was not the warm welcome we had anticipated but he was in my arms and we were happy to have him. Now, one full year later, we are all together to celebrate his first birthday.

Matthew had a great shindig with family, friends and all the sugar any kid could imagine!

After much debate we finally agreed upon cooking a hearty vegetable spaghetti sauce which covered cute little bow tie pasta. We had your typical cheese and cracker plate and party punch for munching while everyone arrived. Want a great cake for your next event? Just call Ba! She whipped up a fantastic chocolate cake with the best real banana filling and a delicious sweet icing.

Matthew had no problem ripping into his presents. He tore though the wrapping and as soon as one gift was out he was ready for the next. I've got 3 full outfits to show off my cutie in and he's more than thrilled to have his own camera and cell phone. I just hope he'll leave mine alone now, probably not likely.

Happy birthday our little monkey! We can't wait to see what the next year has in store for you.

Xoxo, A. Scott
