Right now I'm less than pleased with my ob/gyn, specifically Dr. Laskey.
First off, I have a nice long history of pain complaints that were ignored. The remark, take more meeds does not bode well with me when a quick chiropractic adjustment gave 10X the relief. Tylenol is not the answer, medications rarely are without true justification.
The most recent annoyance: I've asked for special "physician approval" to travel to VIrginia for my sisters graduation. Preterm labor is unlikely for me at 36 weeks. I've had 2 other full term pregnancies, the earliest delivered at 38 weeks. Since we've had no complications, low blood pressure and a normal fetal heart rate at every appointment there should be no concern for complications to Temperance.
That all being said I've still been told "NO!" Why, because Dr. Laskey is concerned that I might go into labor. Really? Check my freaking medical chart, it's quite unlikely. If I did go early, I will not allow my husband to rush me to Saratoga, they do not have a nicu staff or training, they life flight patients straight to Albany. So here's the deal, if we do deliver early, he won't be my Dr. I'll travel the extra 30 minutes to get to a better equipped hospital. Also, not that this matters to my current ob/gyn, neither of my kids were born under MY dr's care. I've always ended up with the on call physician so I don't care who delivers Tempy as longs as they don't order a C-section out of ignorance. I guess that's why my Miah will be there, to weed fact from fiction as it rolls from the med staff's mouths.
Do you see where I'm coming from and why it seems reasonable that we should be "given permission" to take this trip?
Guess what, I don't care at this point what anyone says. Give me reasonable MeDiCaL advice and I will listen but don't spout off unintelligent advice and expect me to take it as the word of God.
Xoxo, A. Scott
