32 weeks and counting!

We had another OB appointment today. It was one of those fantastically short visits with our doctor yet the longest darned time waiting.... We got to the office at 3:30, signed in and barely had time to flip open a magazine before being called back to the exam room. I gave my routine "specimen" (that means I had to pee in a cup for those of you that haven' been through this yet) and planted my behind firmly on the table. Soon after the nurse came in and asked us if we had any concerns. She took my blood preasure, which like always was within the realm of acceptable, 112/60-something. You'd think with the stress of having 2 heathens circling me like sharks all day I'd have some signs of anxiety, nope! I guess that's a good thing, my body handles stress well! After that brief moment with our nurse she left with the promise that the doctor would be in shortly....

45 minutes later she came to tell us he'd be right in. It was probably a good 30 minutes before Dr. Cuttler came in to talk to us. I like him but he always seems to be a little behind schedule compared to the other physicians here. He checked Temperance's heart rate, sorry I forgot, but it's where it should be. Fundal height is starting to measure on the small side of the scale but part of that is my fault for being such a dang small person.  After all that we got to ask the one question that has been nagging at me for this entire month: Is it "safe" for us to travel to my sisters graduation? ( Dr. Laskey told us NO with the BS excuse that if we went into early labor we wouldn't have our OB to deliver Temperance. Yet if we stay here and deliver early, we don't have use of a NICU... Which would you prefer a familiar face in your you-know-where or a facility equipped to deal with worst case scenario births?) Dr. Cuttler checked our records (I watched him scan over the pages!) and told us that the only major health risk is a DVT, deep vein thrombosis. DVT's are blood clots that can form in your legs from immobility for long periods. The risk increases during pregnancy. Long story short, it's OK for us to travel as long as we make a conscious effort to stop every few hours for a stretch break. (FYI, anyone making a long road trip should do this not just those with child!)

We have one more appointment before the big trip at which time they plan to do a full in and out exam to make sure nothing health-wise has changed. Things that could break the trip, any dialation, contractions, any development issues (lower weight or heartrate) or a major change in my own physical health. So far, it's looking like there will be no issues but we have 2 more weeks to wait and see.

(Sorry this one is so long!)

We've been spending a ton of time with the Shelden family. Channa and I often text each other just to find out if we can get heathens out of the house! It's been fantastic having someone quite like minded so close to us. Amie loves Camryn, I swear she talks about her daily and the boys do everything together. If one is running off the other is not far behind! I have some adorable pictures of the kids from our last trip to the playground, I'll have to post them at some point. Just don't hold your breath because I'm really bad about procrastinating on everything!

XOXO, A. Scott
