We've made it without killing each other!

Yep, that's right! We hit mile marker 365, twice. That may seem like so little to some yet it's a big deal for us. Well, not really. Our goal is forever so what difference does one more day make?

Our anniversary was spent just being a family. We didn't get a babysitter and have a romantic time on the town or catch a late night flick with overpriced popped corn and soda from grubby dispensers that probably were not cleaned within the last month. (Trust me on that, I used to work at one of the nicer theaters with decently high cleaning standards and even then things were missed OFTEN!) Nope, we spent our time loving on each other! The kids got tons of hugs and kisses, we goofed off and did some much needed recreational shopping. We bought a gas grill and outdoor plants that hopefully this time I would black-thumb to death as I've done all of my indoor greenery! (So far, Amie's Azaleas are looking better than mine... I'm being outdone by a 3 year old!)

Our theory on why we should spend the day as a family is pretty simple: We started out as a family of 4, why should we only celebrate with 2 of the 4? It makes more sense to me to spend a family holiday as a family than as a couple.

For those of you that got married pre-children, go ahead and celebrate without them. Your marriage was about the joining of two people in love with each other. For us, well, Amie was 1 and I was pregnant with Matthew. Not only did Jeremiah and I fall in love with each other but we were in love with those other 2 people that would be just as a big a part of our lives as we were to each other. So because of that, our anniversary is about the joining of 4 people (about to be 5), not just 2.

To everyone that is just as much a part of my family as the 3 heathens that terrorize me daily: Thank you for your continued support. You've helped us to make it just a little farther in this adventure we so lovingly call life!

XOXO, A. Scott
