Spring Break

I was expecting visitors this week but as it turned out only one of three decided to come. I'm not going to complain too loudly, it would have been nice to see Larissa and Jamie again but it was their choice to stay home. I'm still a little disappointed.

We picked Damara up from the airport last night. She spent most of the day in the airport (one hour less than had she driven it...) so we went out immediately to get supper. We had a lazy night, McDonalds nuggets, fries and soda. Hey, it was a healthy meal for the kids that got to run off the extra calories in the playplace! Afterwards we went home and Amie gave the official tour. Her tours are always short, "here's my room and my new bunkbeds. Here are my toys. This is where mommy crafts..." I guess we don't expect our guest to get hungry or use the bathroom the entire week she'll be here. I helped fill in the gaps. Damara helped Amie brush her teeth and get into her pajama's. Amie cooperated the entire time. Daddy took on the Monkey duties then put the kids in bed. I finished off bedtime with a chapter from their newest read, Goosebumps. I'm not sure what story it is since this book is a collection of ghost stories. I think everyone was pretty tired and we all crashed fairly early in the evening.

Amie, like always, woke me up at the butt-crack of dawn. Honestly I could do without the wake up call at 5 with Jeremiah, then 5:45 when Amie climbs in bed, 6:15 when she finally stops trying to get comfortable and 7:00 when she can no longer lay still and we both must get up for breakfast. I snooze a little in there but I find myself staring at the clock more often than not. This morning was a pretty easy going one for us. Amie didn't bother Damara too much while she watched Cat's Don't Dance and snacked on her breakfast. We've spent most of the morning just being lazy, lounging around watching the kids chase each other. Around 11 I decided I was starving and couldn't wait any longer so we baked homemade pizza for lunch. It was really yummy!

I think it's about time for Matty's nap and hopefully a quick snooze for the rest of us. Damara has a slight cold and has wanted to relax all morning but the moment she can Amie jumps on her. Who knows... If I can get Amie to nap it'll be while I'm at my appointment so I doubt I'll get any rest today.

XOXO, A. Scott
