Amie had a rough yesterday. I don't know if it's the sudden warm weather or relentless playing we've been doing the past couple of days but she ended up with a decently high temperature. It spiked last night around bed time. She stumbled into our room in a groggy stupor telling us she didn't feel well. One look at her and we could both tell her temp had risen significantly. I made her a cool bath and we immediately turned the AC on (it's not like our home was hot but I'm sure it helped her some to not have the ambient temperature around 73.) Jeremiah checked her temperature before we tossed her in the tub, we were startled to see it reach 103 degrees. After a slight arguement about taking her tylenol and drinking some Kool Aid she finally dropped back into a more comfortable range for us. Regardless, the spike had us both worried. We made her a bed in our room, complete with a pop up kids tent and lightweight blankets, where she spent the whole night. We set an alarm to check her again as the medicine wore off in four hours. She got us up before it even went off. 5 minutes early we both were awakened by Amie chatting ou snoozing ears off. I can't tell you what she was going on about but she fully expected that we were listening and would respond at the right time... Oops, I failed there! There were at least a few times throughout the night that her babbling caused me to become alert. She wasn't sleep talking, she was fully awake and attempting to hold a conversation with me. It was hard to see how adorable she was being then but it makes me smile now. She was being very sweet and quite inquisitive!
Matty's verbal skills have exploded this week. Anytime we go out he points to vehicles in parking lots or on the road and squawks "GAR!" We've also managed to convince him that he will get what he wants if he says please. I often find him digging in the pantry. He normally runs out holding the box of goldfish or drinkable pouches of applesauce. As soon as he sees Jeremiah or I he'll start repeating "Bwease!" It may not be perfect just yet but it's a start and it'll earn him rewards everytime.
I probably shouldn't repeat this but I will anyway! This afternoon we were in the car leaving Best Buy (Our attempt to find someone knowledgeable enough to reccommend a decent lens upgrade for my camera and needs. I'm pretty sure I know what I need but I want a "professional" to agree with me before we buy it.) Amie was upset that Matty wasn't playing gently with his toys. She snapped at him, "Matty, damnit, don't break your toy!" We had a long talk about why she could not say that and how hurtful bad words are. Daddy had a hard time stifling the giggles but we managed as we drove home.
I'm not waiting for the karate kid to come home from practice so we can start building the olive green Jeep GAR that both the kids want so badly. We've worked hard to hide that we have it in the garage. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day for a test run. (Who knows with the weather we've been having, downpour after downpour plague our days.)
XOXO, A. Scott
