Apparently there is "something going around" according to my dentist. There's always something going around. That's what happens when people don't wash their hands, they spread germs that other people in turn get and spread further.
The part that frustrates me is that no matter how hard I try to help teach my kids how to live cleanly they are bound to pick up any nasty germ that someone else has. It doesn't matter how often we wash our hands, if you don't it negates every attempt to not get sick.
I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone in particular. As every one knows, my sister did visit us with a COLD. We expected to deal with just that, sniffly noses, sore throats and possibly a low grade fever. The normal run its course then leave your system cold. I got it. No big deal since it's typically caused by any little thing that you are not already immune to. A trip somewhere new can give you a cold even if you never come in contact with a sick person.
What's irking me right now is this stomach bug that Amie had on saturday, Jeremiah had last night and Matty had this morning. Where the heck did it come from? If our kids went to day care or had outings with other children we might have a clue. They've been with me sequestered to our home since we came home from vacation because it's cold and I don't have the energy to get off my lazy butt.
Amie is pretty much over her little bug. I'm fairly certain it was the standard 24 hour stomach yucky but since she refused all food or drink she ended up dehydrated. Her bug ended up lasting until tuesday evening, she was lethargic, grumpy and in general pretty dang surly (yes, Damara, I like that word. It's my Bug to a T.)
Poor Miah has it from both ends, although from what I've seen he's getting food to stay down pretty well. It's was so rough on him last night that he decided to sleep on the couch last night in a feeble attempt to avoid giving it to me. (I'm pretty sure I'll end up with this little nasty too...)
We didn't even realize Matty was ill until after his nap today. I thought his PJ's smelled funky when I got him out of his bed but didn't see anything. I figured it was because his laundry had been washed with Amie's throw up clothing and some of the smell managed to stick around. When we set the monkey free from nap we noticed to stain on his sheets. It didn't take long after that for him to start a wimper routine and prove that he needed TLC. For the most part he's done fairly well with his tummy troubles. We gave Amie permission to get us up at any point tonight if she hears him start to barf.
Hopefully this is it for the yuckies in this house. Any more and I'll probably rip my hair out!
XOXO, A. Scott
